OUR HISTORY AND TRADITION

The Faria family has been practicing in various areas of law for three generations. This tradition led to the formation of attorney Dr. Marcelo de Paula Faria, a lawyer and partner at Faria & Advogados Associados (Marcelo de Paula Faria Sociedade Individual de Advocacia).
After a successful career of over 20 years in the technology sector in Brazil and in the United States, Dr. Marcelo de Paula Faria began his legal studies and practice at his father’s law firm in Rio de Janeiro between 2008 and 2018. He specialized in consulting and litigation in the areas of Union Collective Bargaining Agreements, Labor and Employment Law, and Pension Fund Claims, with a strong focus on the Oil and Gas industry. He also brings knowledge not only in his core specialties but also in Tax Law, Constitutional Law, Family Law, and Contract Law.
Today, with more than 18 years of experience across these and other fields of Brazilian law, Dr. Marcelo has expanded his focus to specialize in Legal Consulting for transnational transactions between Brazil and the United States. He has built a network of Brazilian and American collaborators, including attorneys, accountants, consultants, and entrepreneurs with expertise across various legal fields and industries.
Dr. Marcelo holds a Law degree from Veiga de Almeida University in Rio de Janeiro, a postgraduate degree in Human Rights from the University of Coimbra in Portugal, and an extension certification in Compliance & Anti-Corruption.
In the last few years, he began studing U.S. Law, with the goal of taking the Bar Exam. He began with Harvard Law School Pre-Law Program, and is now enrolled in the International Tax LL.M. with U.S. Law Concentration (Master of Laws) in the U.S.. His goal is to become a licensed attorney in the United States, specializing in U.S. Law in the area of International Taxation, with a strong focus on cross-border legal services between Brazil and the United States. He is also preparing to become an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Internal Revenue Services).
This tradition and experience in the legal field have resulted in a service marked by quality, respect in relationships, social responsibility, integrity in practice, and the defense of Fundamental Rights.
